By geo
You can use targeting by geography to enable or disable banner impressions for certain countries, regions, and cities, or for the regions manually selected on the map. This type of targeting uses the Yandex geobase.
Step 1. Enable targeting
- Targeting is disabled by default, so your ads can appear anywhere. To enable geographic targeting, go to Targeting → Add a targeting condition → By geo.
Step 2. Specify the targeting logic
-
You can set up targeting in different ways:
Select countries, regions, cities
You can either choose a broad display region (for example, all Asian countries) or narrow down your choice to a specific region or city:
-
Enable the List countries, regions, cities option.
-
In the Countries, regions, and cities search bar, select all the regions where you want to serve ads.
Selecting a top-level region automatically selects all the items inside it. You can select or deselect any items as needed. For example, if you don't want to target the capital city of a region, deselect it. The city will then appear in the Countries, regions, and cities row with a minus sign.
Note
If an item isn't in the region selection tree but shows up in search results, you can only disable impressions for it.
-
Click Apply and save the targeting criteria.
Specify regions on the map
Show ads to the right locations with region‑based targeting or use it when the locality you need isn't in the region tree.
Your ad will be served if requested from a region matching the targeting settings. Regions are identified using the Yandex geographic database and Crypta technology.
Note
Selecting a region on the map can greatly narrow the audience that sees your ads.
-
Enable the Specify areas on the map option.
-
Specify the region in one of the following ways:
- Enter addresses or names of organizations.
- Click Specify on the map and mark the points.
You can add a maximum of 10 regions.
-
Enter the radius of the area around the points in the range from 0.5 to 10 km.
-
Click Apply and save the targeting criteria.
