By browsers

With browser targeting, you can configure impressions based on the user's browser. For example, you can serve ads for Opera, Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla to those who use Internet Explorer.

Set up targeting

By default, targeting is enabled for all browsers. To set up targeting:

  1. Go to TargetingAdd a targeting conditionBy browsers.

  2. Set up targeting criteria:

    • Excluded major browsers: Select major browsers for which you want to disable impressions.
    • Excluded mobile browsers: Select mobile browsers for which you want to disable impressions.
    • Excluded rare browsers: Select rare browsers for which you want to disable impressions.
    • Exclude undefined browsers: Browsers that can't be identified based on the User‑Agent. When this option is enabled, users with these operating systems won't see your ads.

    Note

For some browsers, you can configure targeting by browser version. The available options are listed in a drop-down menu one level below.

  3. Click Apply and save the targeting criteria.

New browser versions

When a new browser version is released, Adfox adds it to the directory for targeting.

The current ad campaigns will check targeting, and the new version will be added as:

  • Enabled: If there was no targeting by browser (all browsers are enabled).

  • Disabled: If targeting by browser was enabled.

You can change the default logic for adding a new browser version to always allow new browser versions. The current settings of ad campaigns will be ignored. To implement this logic, contact support.

Warning

In the report builder, you can add dimensions and filters for browsers to track their statistics.

Rare browsers with a low traffic share are grouped into a separate category called Unknown. Browsers that couldn't be identified are grouped into a separate category, Undefined.

During the transition to the new targeting tree, your ads maintain previously configured settings. The settings that the system considers rarely used or outdated are marked as deprecated. You can view and edit these values as long as they are being used in your campaigns.
