Booking
Booking is a type of campaign designed to reserve inventory for direct sales. Booking campaigns do not have active impressions, but their potential traffic is taken into account when making forecasts for other campaigns. You can also make a forecast for the booking itself.
With booking, you can:
- Quickly reserve inventory for future sales without having to create banners.
- Determine optimal settings, such as targetings and restrictions, for the successful execution of the campaign in the future.
- Check how launching a new campaign may affect other campaigns.
- Store data about planned and current campaigns in one place.
- Automatically complete inventory reservation after a specified date. For example, if the advertiser hasn't paid for the placement yet.
Creating a booking
-
Under Campaigns → Commercial, click Create. Booking is available both at the campaign and flight level.
How to add a flight
- Open the Campaigns (NEW) tab and select the campaign where you want to create a flight.
- On the campaign page, click Flights.
- On the Flights tab, click Create. A form for adding a flight opens.
-
Specify the main campaign or flight parameters:
- Campaign type: Select Guarantee.
- Name.
- Status: Active. If you select the paused or completed status, the booking will not be taken into account in forecasts for other campaigns.
- Advertiser.
- Impression count method (available only at the campaign level).
-
If necessary, fill in the Reserve end date field: the date after which the booking campaign will change its status to completed and will no longer be taken into account in forecasts for other campaigns.
-
In the Placement block, select a site, section, or placement from the list to serve the campaign. You can also apply placement profiles, if you have any. To learn more about placement, see Campaign and banner placement.
Warning
To create a booking, you need to select a campaign placement. To make the forecast more reliable, we recommend being more specific with the placements. For example, select specific placements rather than the entire site.
-
After selecting a placement for the campaign, you can make a forecast. With forecasts, you can immediately estimate if the campaign is going to succeed with the specified settings. You can also estimate other campaigns that use the same inventory.
If the forecast shows that the campaign is not going to be implemented, try changing the settings (restrictions, targetings, impression running speed) or serve the campaign on other placements. Use the forecast to determine optimal settings for the successful implementation of the campaign.
To learn more about how to analyze the forecast, see Forecasting.
-
Click Save as a Booking.
When you save the campaign, banners whose type corresponds to the type of banner on the site will be automatically created on the selected placements. For example, when a campaign is placed on a site with a 240 × 400 banner type, a 240 × 400 banner is added automatically.
Uploading creatives for a Booking campaign is optional. This can be done later before changing the campaign to Guarantee. Automatic banners are enough for forecasting.
